Bayer in Missouri Chesterfield is seeking a Principal Crop Physiology Scientist to lead cross-disciplinary efforts leveraging genomic, phenomic, and environmental data to design improved germplasm and seed products. You will shape the Product Development pipeline with accelerated breeding and functional genomics insights.

This senior role requires a PhD or equivalent with 6+ years of experience (MS+10+ years acceptable), strong data analysis and coding in R/Python, and the ability to influence

Qualifications

• PhD with 6+ years in breeding, genetics, or data science; MS with 10+ years acceptable
• Experience leading cross-functional teams and influencing without reporting lines
• Proficiency in R/Python and handling large biological datasets

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership to coordinate technical strategy for crop physiology in seed product concepts
• Leverage model outputs and analytics for improved breeding decisions
• Drive collaboration with field testing, data science, engineering, molecular breeding, logistics, and product development teams
• Ensure knowledge transfer at key crop-cycle milestones and document insights
• Identify opportunities for new technology and process improvements
• Lead projects with partner teams across NA, LATAM, EMEA, APAC
• Mentor peers and support growth of technical and leadership skills
• Support biosafety, compliance, and human rights policies
