Job summary

The City and County of Broomfield is seeking a Criminalist with supervisory responsibility to lead crime scene investigations, preserve evidence, and support investigations with scientific analysis. The role requires strict adherence to policies and effective coordination with law enforcement teams.

Candidates will conduct documentation, processing of evidence, AFIS involvement, and ensure safety and compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent training/experience.
• Latent Fingerprint Examiner Certification is preferred.
• Crime scene, latent prints/identification, blood spatter analysis or related certifications are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervises Crime Scene Investigators by providing direction, guidance, and oversight of daily operations.
• Conducts comprehensive crime scene investigations by locating, documenting, collecting, preserving, analyzing, and interpreting all types of evidence.
• Processes crime scenes to locate and collect physical evidence for scientific evaluation.
• Performs laboratory examinations using scientific methods and techniques.
• Analyzes latent fingerprint lifts and enters fingerprints into AFIS.
• Maintains safety compliance and proper handling of evidence and materials.
• Prepares accurate crime scene diagrams and graphic representations.
• Reads, understands, and adheres to applicable rules and procedures.
