City of Golden is hiring a Crime Scene Evidence Specialist I or II to perform scene processing, evidence collection and documentation for police investigations. The position works in the evidence vault/lab, ensuring chain of custody and equipment readiness in a collaborative team environment.

Qualified applicants have a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice or Criminalistics and at least two years' crime scene experience; CSI II requires three years and an IAI certification or equivalent

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Criminalistics or related field; two years’ experience in Crime Scene / Evidence or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• To be considered for CSI II, minimum of three years’ experience and IAI Certified Crime Scene Investigator’s certificate, or equivalent training.

Aufgaben

• Provides crime scene processing and evidence collection under supervisor guidance.
• Oversees daily operations in evidence room and lab area; secures, stores and disposes of seized evidence.
• Takes photographs at crime scenes and maintains photographic evidence files.
• Locates, develops, photographs and lifts latent fingerprints; collects inked fingerprints for comparison and analysis.
• Prepares court exhibits and provides testimony in court on evidence handling and CSI techniques.
• Maintains equipment, training new CSIs and coordinating with other agencies.
