Job summary

Meta is seeking an experienced attorney to serve as Lead Counsel on monetization-focused legal matters for AI-driven advertising products. You will provide strategic legal counsel to product, engineering, and business teams across global jurisdictions, addressing privacy, consumer protection, and emerging AI regulation concerns.

You will collaborate with privacy, policy, and partnerships teams to align on regulatory issues and drive scalable risk mitigation, while supporting compliance programs

Qualifications

• Active membership in at least one US state bar; eligibility for in-house counsel status if required by the State Bar
• 5+ years of legal experience as a practicing attorney, including law firm and/or in-house or government experience
• Experience advising on legal issues related to digital advertising, AI-driven products, or technology platforms across multiple jurisdictions
• Experience working independently and cross-functionally to manage and deliver complex legal projects with multiple stakeholders
• Experience applying data protection, consumer protection, or competition law frameworks to technology products or services

Responsibilities

• Provide proactive legal counsel to product, engineering, and monetization teams on AI-powered advertising products, user controls, and related revenue-generating surfaces
• Analyze new monetization features and AI capabilities to identify legal risks across data protection, consumer protection, IP, and competition law in multiple jurisdictions
• Develop and apply legal frameworks for novel monetization use cases, including generative AI in advertising and related user controls
• Coordinate cross-functional legal strategy with privacy, regulatory, commercial, and litigation teams
• Align with public policy, communications, and partnerships teams on legal and regulatory issues affecting advertising and monetization products
• Support compliance initiatives related to global AI regulations, advertising standards, and data protection laws as they apply to monetization products
• Contribute to organizational legal strategy by identifying emerging AI monetization risks and proposing scalable mitigations
• Engage with cross-functional stakeholders to drive legally sound product decisions at scale
• Develop and maintain legal guidance, frameworks, and documentation to support consistent counseling across monetization and AI product teams
