Job summary

The United States Army Corps of Engineers seeks a Chief, Cost Engineering Section to lead estimating for complex construction programs across Military, Civil Works, and HTRW projects in Omaha. You will develop, review, and approve cost estimates and oversee AE cost packages, ensuring bidability and value for money.

This role requires a Bachelor’s degree in engineering (ABET-accredited) or equivalent combination, plus Professional Engineer license and supervisory experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering (ABET-accredited preferred) or equivalent combination with engineering fundamentals.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license/registration required.
• Experience in cost estimation, review of AE cost estimates, and cost control practices.

Responsibilities

• Develop, prepare, and approve construction cost estimates.
• Review working drawings, specifications, and data for bidability and constructability.
• Oversee cost estimates reviewed by A-E contractors for reasonableness and cost control.
• Supervise preparation of cost estimates and review contractor claims over $500,000.
• Provide life cycle project management information to support budgets, schedules, and program decisions.
