Job summary

Oak Ridge National Laboratory seeks a technical staff professional to lead corrosion science research in extreme environments. You will guide experiments, manage work packages, and coordinate planning across DOE-funded CST programs.

You will mentor junior staff, prepare content for DOE reviews, and improve microscopy, data management, and testing systems to ensure on-time, on-budget deliverables. This role requires strong communication, safety leadership, and a proactive approach to advancing

Qualifications

• BS degree in science, engineering, or related field.
• At least 5 years in material compatibility testing under high temperature/pressure; or 4+ years with MS, or 2+ years with PhD.
• Experience in sample preparation for metallography.
• Experience in electron microscopy and image analysis.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage CST tasks and work packages within DOE programs.
• Coordinate planning, resourcing, and scheduling of corrosion experiments and data management.
• Serve as technical point of contact for assigned scopes.
• Mentor junior staff and ensure safe operations and high-quality execution.
• Prepare technical content for DOE reports and reviews.
• Improve CST workflows, microscopy pipelines, and data management frameworks.
• Operate corrosion testing systems for extreme environments and document results.
• Maintain laboratory documentation and inventories.
