Lead Correctional Officer I - Orange Correctional Center

This position is located at Orange Correctional Center in Hillsborough, NC, a male minimum custody facility. Reporting to the Correctional Sergeant I, this role involves supervising offenders and staff. Responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring the care, custody, and control of offenders.
  • Touring assigned areas which require periodically climbing stairs.
  • Observing offender activity in person and via monitors.
  • Identifying offenders with behavioral or medical issues for safety measures.
  • Performing security duties to prevent escape, disorder, and harm.
  • Searching offenders, visitors, cells, and areas for contraband.
  • Monitoring and regulating movements within the facility.
  • Maintaining records of offender counts and assignments.
  • Escorting offenders as needed.
  • Using and maintaining keys and equipment.
  • Supervising offender work details and staff.
  • Providing custody supervision in restrictive housing areas.
  • Enforcing safety, health, and security rules.
