Job summary

Colonial Intermediate Unit 20 seeks a dynamic Coordinator of Special Education for Sensory Impaired Support Programs to serve multiple schools within the IU 20 region. The candidate will provide instructional leadership, collaborate with district staff, and advance services for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, visually impaired, and with other sensory needs.

The role emphasizes supervising specialized staff, coordinating AAC decisions, and ensuring compliance with regulatory timelines

Qualifications

• Master's Degree or higher in related field and appropriate Pennsylvania certification.
• Experience supervising special education staff and knowledge of sensory impairment programs.
• Familiar with IDEA, Section 504 and ADA regulations and related processes.
• Ability to provide instructional leadership across speech-language and sensory-impaired services.

Responsibilities

• Assist in reviewing staffing, program, materials, and technology needs.
• Make site visits and collaborate with school principals and district supervisors.
• Interpret evaluation results, IEPs, and Section 504 plans; monitor student progress.
• Support staff compliance with special education timelines and requirements.
• Collaborate with school teams on programming for students with special needs.
• Support AAC decisions and implementation of specially designed instruction.
• Plan and evaluate professional development for teachers of exceptional students.
• Assist in identifying assessment tools for sensory impairments.
