Job summary

Otterbein SeniorLife in Ohio is seeking a Lead Cook to join our not-for-profit retirement community. The Lead Cook participates in the preparation, cooking and serving of all food items to residents, guests, and partners under strict sanitary conditions.

Responsibilities include reading menus, preparing and cooking foods to recipes, coordinating with other food service staff, and ensuring proper portioning and presentation.

Qualifications

• 2 to 5 years cooking experience in LTC or similar setting preferred.
• High School diploma or GED preferred.

Responsibilities

• Reads menu to estimate food requirements and procures food from storage.
• Prepares and cooks food in accordance with standards.
• Measures ingredients and uses kitchen equipment to prepare diverse menu items.
• Bakes, roasts, steams, broils and portions meats and vegetables.
• Ensures proper seasoning, tasting and temperature checks.
• Maintains sanitation and coordinates with staff to prevent waste.
