Job summary

Portland State University’s Helen Gordon Child Development Center (HGCDC) and HGITC in downtown Portland seek a Lead Cook to support the Food Program Coordinator in planning and preparing three nutritious meals daily for children aged six weeks to five years, following USDA/CACFP guidelines.

Responsibilities include ordering food and kitchen supplies, menu planning, inventory, and assigning tasks to ensure meals meet allergies and family preferences; 40 hours/week, Monday–Friday, with starting

Qualifications

• Two years of cooking experience in an institution or commercial firm serving complete meals.
• An Associates degree in Food Service Management, Foods and Hospitality Service, or a directly-related field.

Responsibilities

• Prepare three nutritious meals a day (breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snack) following USDA/CACFP guidelines.
• Order food and kitchen supplies; plan menus; manage inventory; write recipes; maintain a full-service kitchen.
• Delegate and oversee daily kitchen tasks to ensure meals accommodate allergies and family preferences.
