Tigg's Canteen Services Inc is hiring a Temporary Full-Time Lead Cook for the Porter County Jail in Valparaiso, Indiana. The Lead Cook leads inmates, assists with meal prep, and ensures a safe, organized kitchen in a structured correctional environment.

Starting pay is $21.00 per hour and benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and paid time off. Typical hours are 8:30 AM to 6:30 PM, weekends and holidays required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead, direct, and assist inmates in the kitchen.

Tigg's Canteen Services is looking for a dependable leader to join our food service team!

Are you someone who takes pride in your work, enjoys working in a kitchen, and is comfortable taking on leadership responsibilities? Tigg's Canteen Services is currently hiring a Temporary Full-Time Lead Cook at the Porter County Jail in Valparaiso, Indiana.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Lead Cook, you will play an important role in the daily operation of the facility kitchen. Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading, directing, and assisting inmates within the kitchen
• Providing direction and instruction during meal preparation
• Assisting with food preparation, baking, cooking, and clean-up
• Preparing meals according to company recipes and procedures
• Helping maintain a clean, safe, and organized kitchen
• Supporting daily kitchen operations and meal service
• Working professionally within a structured correctional environment
• Performing physical duties, including lifting up to 50 pounds

THE RIGHT CANDIDATE WILL HAVE

SCHEDULE & REQUIREMENTS

Position: Temporary Full-Time
Typical Hours: Approximately 8:30 AM - 6:30 PM

Candidates must:

• Be available to work weekends and holidays
• Be flexible to work varying days and hours
• Successfully obtain the required facility clearance and approval
• Be comfortable working in a structured correctional setting
