Job summary

Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory is seeking a Controls Software Engineer to design, develop, and test control software for large-scale experimental facilities. You will work with EPICS and related tools to ensure reliable operation of data acquisition systems and control networks in the ALS.

You will lead and develop for scalable, secure systems, including GUIs, databases, and workflows, collaborating with scientists and engineers across disciplines.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 6 years and a Master’s degree; or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead the support and maintenance of operational computer systems.
  • Knowledge and experience with front-end software development and UI best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deploy control system software using EPICS and associated tools for the ALS.
  • Act as a technical lead, maintainer and primary developer for the ASCC application.
  • Define and maintain the overall system architecture to ensure scalability and reliability.
  • Design and implement new components based on evolving requirements.
  • Provide technical support and triage for issues.
