Job summary

Corning Incorporated is hiring a Senior Staff Engineer, Controls in Corning, NY. This is a full-time onsite role with Monday–Friday, 40 hours per week, and travel about 50% to support multiple locations.

Relocation assistance is available, with potential base in Charlotte, Hickory, or Wilmington, NC based on business needs. You will serve as the senior technical authority on automation and capital projects, defining control architectures, directing contractors, and shaping controls engineering

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics or related field.
Minimum 10 years of professional, non-academic experience in industrial controls & automation.
Experience with PLC-based automation in manufacturing environments.
Experience with Rockwell/Allen-Bradley PLC programming and familiarity with Siemens/Omron platforms.
Experience with HMI/SCADA such as FactoryTalk View, Ignition, or iFix.
Knowledge of MES/SCADA architecture and electrical schematics.
Must be available for significant travel (primarily domestic).

Responsibilities

Lead controls scope for automation and capital projects from concept to commissioning.
Design and deploy integrated automation and machine control systems using PLC, HMI, SCADA.
Define architectures and integration requirements to support manufacturing objectives.
Provide technical direction to contractors, SI partners, and internal teams.
Review and approve electrical schematics, PLC/HMI programs, and network docs.
Troubleshoot controls, programming, networking, and system integration issues during projects.
Mentor engineers and contribute to standardization of software and docs.
