Lead Control Systems Engineer - Power and Energy

Job Overview

The Lead Control Systems Engineer is responsible for designing and leading Power and Energy Automation projects.

Responsibilities

1. Team Leadership & Sales Support

• Provide technical guidance and act as part of the leadership team
• Identify and assign tasks within the project team
• Assist with change order generation by estimating hardware costs and engineering effort
• Maintain relationships with existing customers

Instrumentation & Electrical Design

• Create instrument lists from P&ID drawings
• Evaluate instrumentation and select appropriate devices
• Select controls hardware suitable for the project
• Compile submittal documentation for controls and instrument hardware
• Create panel layouts and electrical schematics
• Procure hardware and support panel fabrication technicians
• Inspect completed control enclosures

System Design and Configuration

• Lead customer design review meetings
• Configure PLC and DCS control algorithms
• Configure user interface and HMI screens
• Perform internal functional and quality testing
• Draft system documentation
• Assist with customer demonstrations and acceptance testing

Onsite System Startup

• Install software and configurations onsite
• Conduct point-to-point loop checks
• Perform software calibration and tuning
• Conduct functional system tests
• Troubleshoot installation issues
• Support customer testing and program modifications
• Train customer staff on system operation and maintenance

Qualifications

Technical Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in a technical field or related technical degree
• Minimum 3 years of relevant industry experience
• Controls experience in at least one of the following:
• Rockwell: FactoryTalk Suite, RS Logix/Studio 5000, PlantPAx DCS
• Aveva System Platform
• Inductive Ignition Perspective
• Distech: BACnet, LON Distech controllers, Eclypse Controllers
• Additional useful technologies include:
• Johnson Controls: Facility Explorer, Metasys controllers
• Tridium: Niagara N4
• SQL, scripting languages (VBA, Python)
• Knowledge of Kepware OPC server, ThinManager, VMware is a plus

Pay Range: $80K - $130K
