Overview
Lead Control Systems Engineers are responsible for designing and leading Power and Energy Automation projects.
Responsibilities
- Team Leadership & Sales Support
- Provide technical guidance and act as a part of the leadership team
- Identify and assign tasks within the project team
- Assist with change order generation by estimating hardware costs and engineering effort for scope changes
- Maintain relationships with existing customers
Instrumentation & Electrical Design- Create instrument lists from P&ID drawings
- Evaluate instrumentation and select appropriate devices
- Evaluate and select controls hardware
- Compile submittal documentation for controls and instrument hardware
- Create panel layouts and electrical schematics
- Procure project hardware
- Support panel fabrication technicians
- Inspect completed control enclosures
System Design and Configuration- Lead customer design review meetings
- Configure PLC and/or DCS control algorithms
- Configure user interface and HMI screens
- Perform internal functional and quality control testing
- Draft system documentation
- Assist with customer demonstrations and acceptance testing
Onsite System Startup- Install project software and configurations
- Conduct point-to-point loop checks
- Perform software calibration and tuning
- Conduct functional system tests
- Troubleshoot installation issues
- Support customer testing
- Program field modifications as needed
- Train customer personnel on system operation and maintenance
Qualifications
Technical Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in a technical field or related technical degree
- At least 3 years of experience in the field/industry
- Controls experience in one or more of the following:
- Rockwell: FactoryTalk Suite, RS Logix/Studio 5000, familiarity with PlantPAx DCS
- Aveva System Platform
- Inductive Ignition Perspective
- Distech: BACnet and LON Distech controllers, Eclypse Controllers
Other useful technologies include:
- Johnson Controls: Facility Explorer or Metasys controllers
- Tridium: Niagara N4
- SQL
- Scripting languages (VBA, Python, etc.)
- Knowledge of Kepware OPC server, ThinManager, VMware (preferred)
