Lead Control Systems Engineer - Power and Energy

Overview

Lead Control Systems Engineers are responsible for designing and leading Power and Energy Automation projects.

Responsibilities
  1. Team Leadership & Sales Support
  • Provide technical guidance and act as a part of the leadership team
  • Identify and assign tasks within the project team
  • Assist with change order generation by estimating hardware costs and engineering effort for scope changes
  • Maintain relationships with existing customers
  • Instrumentation & Electrical Design
    • Create instrument lists from P&ID drawings
    • Evaluate instrumentation and select appropriate devices
    • Evaluate and select controls hardware
    • Compile submittal documentation for controls and instrument hardware
    • Create panel layouts and electrical schematics
    • Procure project hardware
    • Support panel fabrication technicians
    • Inspect completed control enclosures
  • System Design and Configuration
    • Lead customer design review meetings
    • Configure PLC and/or DCS control algorithms
    • Configure user interface and HMI screens
    • Perform internal functional and quality control testing
    • Draft system documentation
    • Assist with customer demonstrations and acceptance testing
  • Onsite System Startup
    • Install project software and configurations
    • Conduct point-to-point loop checks
    • Perform software calibration and tuning
    • Conduct functional system tests
    • Troubleshoot installation issues
    • Support customer testing
    • Program field modifications as needed
    • Train customer personnel on system operation and maintenance
    Qualifications

    Technical Experience

    • Bachelor's Degree in a technical field or related technical degree
    • At least 3 years of experience in the field/industry
    • Controls experience in one or more of the following:
    • Rockwell: FactoryTalk Suite, RS Logix/Studio 5000, familiarity with PlantPAx DCS
    • Aveva System Platform
    • Inductive Ignition Perspective
    • Distech: BACnet and LON Distech controllers, Eclypse Controllers

    Other useful technologies include:

    • Johnson Controls: Facility Explorer or Metasys controllers
    • Tridium: Niagara N4
    • SQL
    • Scripting languages (VBA, Python, etc.)
    • Knowledge of Kepware OPC server, ThinManager, VMware (preferred)
