Job Title: Lead Construction Technician

The Lead Construction Technician performs inspections on significant projects, leads other inspection staff, and manages projects.

Essential Functions

1. Oversees inspection and testing activities for one or more projects.
2. Provides oversight of inspection staff and assists in developing their skills.
3. Inputs data into pre-written computer programs.
4. Operates computers and runs reports or calculations.
5. Interprets construction plans and specifications.
6. Observes construction operations on various sites to assess conformance to plans and specifications.
7. Performs construction materials testing and develops budget estimates and proposals.
8. Provides clear written documentation of daily activities, site conditions, etc.
9. Communicates effectively with staff, contractor personnel, and client representatives.
10. Demonstrates ability to work independently, managing staff on projects regularly.
11. Identifies potential issues, takes steps to determine solutions, and implements them.
12. Participates in technical training sessions and achieves certifications related to construction inspection, including renewing certifications.
13. Identifies training and certification needs for team members.
14. Documents daily work and reimbursable expenses in the company's accounting system.
15. Seeks and accepts increasing responsibilities.
16. Collaborates with management to address issues and obstacles.
17. Leads continuous improvement programs within the department.
18. Trains other Construction Technicians and manages staff on project work.
19. Provides consultation to department members.
20. Maintains and develops client relationships through business activities.
21. Engages clients and prospects to identify future opportunities.
