Job summary

Gilbane Building Company, via Next 150 Construction Services, seeks a Lead Superintendent to manage a trade or a major section of a project onsite in New Florence, MO. You will lead safety, scheduling, budget, quality, and customer satisfaction for your scope.

Responsibilities include coordinating trade contractors, maintaining schedules in Procore, and enforcing safety policies. Desired: 7–10 years on large commercial projects and a strong team leadership background.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management.
• 7–10 years experience on $15 million+ commercial/industrial construction projects in a superintendent role.
• Experience leading components and/or a whole project.
• Or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Directs day-to-day coordination of trade contractors and sub-contractors to ensure high-quality work.
• Develops, documents, and communicates the work plan regarding field changes.
• Maintains understanding of contract documents to plan ahead and avoid issues.
• Verifies permits for subcontractors as needed.
• Leads contractor meetings regularly and maintains project communications.
• Creates, manages, and updates the project schedule; implements contingency plans.
• Trains direct reports on processes, procedures, and tasks.
• Ensures safety compliance and enforces the project safety plan.

Overview

Next 150 Construction, a fully owned subsidiary of Gilbane Building Company is seeking a Lead Superintendent. The Lead Superintendent will be responsible for an entire trade or the lead of some feature of the job in a standalone capacity. The Lead Superintendent will be responsible for safety, scheduling, budget, quality and customer satisfaction with that trade or section in its entirety.

This position will be located onsite in New Florence, MO daily.

Responsibilities

• Directs the day-to-day coordination of trade contractors and their sub-contractors to ensure they turn out high- quality work that meets the approved project schedule
• Develops, documents, and communicates the work plan regarding changes made in the field
• Maintains a thorough understanding of contract documents to be able to plan ahead and anticipate potential problems before they arise
• Obtains or verifies that the subcontractors obtain all necessary permits for construction purposes
• Establishes credibility among Owners, trade contractors, unions etc. by maintaining a fair and trustworthy environment
• Verifies safety compliance with all trades; acts as primary safety representative in the field and enforce quality control policies
• Leads contractor meetings on a regular basis
• Maintains daily reports and documentation using Procore
• Creates, manages and updates the project schedule, creates and implements contingency plans when necessary
• Communicates schedule status, updates, and changes to Project Team and Trade Contractors
• Plans, coordinates, and manages jobsite logistics
• Oversees project quality plan and implement necessary changes
• Resolves jurisdictional disputes
• Tracks production as needed
• Executes self-performing capabilities, workforce planning, and quantifying material needs
• Handles forecasting and projecting cost of work
• Trains direct reports on processes, procedures and completion of daily tasks
• Manages workload and performance of direct reports, ensuring alignment with overall company standards
• Fosters a positive and inclusive work environment to motivate and engage team members
• Aids in communicating company and department strategy to direct reports

Experience/Education

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management
• 7-10 years experience on $15 million or larger commercial/ industrial construction projects in a superintendent role
• Experience leading components and/or a whole project
• Or equivalent combination of education and experience

• Strong knowledge and appreciation of construction safety processes and ability to enforce the project safety plan
• Ability to create an environment where "safety first" is the culture and all trades people work with an incident and injury free attitude
• OSHA 30 hour certified
