Job summary

Southland Holdings is seeking a Safety Professional to oversee all safety aspects of our Dallas project. The role requires strong integrity, safety knowledge, and effective communication. Relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates.

The ideal candidate will have extensive heavy civil construction experience, OSHA credentials, and the ability to lead safety meetings, conduct audits, and manage subcontractors on site. Travel and relocation may be required.

Qualifications

• 4-10 years of relevant construction experience.
• OSHA 30 hour in Construction certification.
• OSHA 40 hour HAZWOPER is a plus.
• Training: CHST; STSC; CSP; OSHA 510; 500, 502; ACOE EM-385-1-1 is a plus.
• RCRA/DOT Hazardous Waste/Manifesting training.
• First Aid/CPR certification.
• Fall protection, scaffolding, steel erection, and excavation experience.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily safety meetings.
• Ensure compliance with safe construction within powerline limits.
• Complete accident reports and investigations.
• Ensure PPE is worn by all personnel.
• Perform daily safety audits and inspections.
• Oversee all subcontractors and contractors.
• Inspect power tools and heavy equipment.
• Write job hazard analyses (JHA) and EHS documentation.
• Oversee fall protection, scaffolding, steel erection, and excavation.
• Review JHAs to verify EHS hazard identification and communication.
• Conduct EHS inspections at least twice per shift and address hazards.

Skills

Heavy civil safety experience

Strong communication skills

Willing to travel/relocate

Spanish language ability a plus

Education

OSHA 30 hour in Construction

OSHA 40 hour HAZWOPER (a plus)

Tools

Lockout/Tagout knowledge
