Job summary

DOTD-Engineering & Operations seeks a position to supervise construction inspectors and report to the Project Engineer. You will lead a team handling inspection, surveying and testing across diverse construction projects and ensure compliance with plans and specifications.

The role requires strong field judgment, the ability to work with contractors, and solid calculations for areas, weights and volumes on bridge and roadway work.

Qualifications

• Possession of a high school diploma or GED plus five years of experience in construction inspection or maintenance of public streets, roads, bridges, highways, or associated structures.
• Six months of sub-professional engineering or related experience plus five years in inspection as above.
• Thirty semester hours in engineering/related fields or a bachelor's degree or engineer intern certification.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of inspectors overseeing inspection, surveying and sampling/testing on construction projects.
• Inspect contractor work for compliance with plans and specs for bridges, roads and drainage structures.
• Coordinate with contractor supervision, perform field discussions and calculations for areas, weights, and volumes.
