Job summary

Apptronik in Sunnyvale, CA, seeks a world-class Principal Compute & Sensing Engineer to architect the nervous system of the Apollo humanoid robot. You will design end-to-end compute and sensing backbone, from Jetson-based carriers to multi-sensor integration, ensuring performance, redundancy, and safety.

You will own the system architecture, drive high-speed PCB design, DFx for reliability, and define data pipelines across GigE, USB, MIPI, and GMSL2.

Qualifications

• Experience designing custom carrier boards for NVIDIA Jetson or similar high-end compute modules.
• Strong time synchronization across multi-sensor systems.
• Experience with ISO 26262 or equivalent Functional Safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end design of Apollo’s safe compute architecture.
• Lead PCB design and validation for high-performance modules.
• Drive DFM/DFR for compute modules in demanding environments.
• Define the electrical architecture for a multi-modal sensing stack.
• Architect high-bandwidth data pipelines and low-latency interfaces.
• Drive safety architecture to meet ASIL/SIL in human-occupied environments.
• Mentor electrical and embedded engineers.
