Job summary

Layup is a manufacturing technology company redefining lead times with software, automation, and advanced manufacturing systems. We seek a Computational Geometry Software Lead to guide a team that builds tools turning complex manufacturing problems into scalable, automated workflows.

You will collaborate with manufacturing engineers to shape software requirements and strategy, delivering reliable 3D geometry tools for composite parts and tooling.

Qualifications

• Experience leading software engineers and cross-functional initiatives.
• Background in manufacturing or mechanical engineering with software focus.
• Experience with computational geometry, CAD/CAM, or 3D geometry software.
• Ability to translate manufacturing problems into software requirements.
• Experience in fast-moving startup or small-team environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor the computational geometry software team.
• Partner with manufacturing and mechanical engineers to translate challenges into software requirements.
• Guide development of software that analyzes, manipulates, and generates complex 3D geometry for composite parts and tooling.
• Lead internal engineering tools to speed, quality, and scalability of workflows.
• Help automate workflows across CAD/CAM, tooling, machining, and other processes.
• Make technical and product tradeoffs based on software and manufacturing realities.
• Stay close to code to provide guidance and contribute as needed.
• Shape the team's architecture, development practices, and roadmap as Layup's platform grows.
• Recruit, mentor, and grow the team over time.
