Job summary

Jobtailor in the United States (Maryland, Baltimore) seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the design, fabrication, and qualification of carbon fiber reinforced composite structures. You will drive cost modeling, tooling development, and repair planning while ensuring compliance with specifications and manufacturing processes.

You will review drawings, support capital purchases via Statements of Work, and collaborate with suppliers to improve quality and on-time delivery.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in manufacturing or related engineering field in design, construction, and manufacturing of composite structures.
Proficiency in CATIA 3D modeling software.
Access to export-controlled technology which requires U.S. Person status or government authorization.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.).

Responsibilities

Ensure compliance with engineering specifications, processes, and procedures for carbon fiber reinforced composites.
Support development of cost models and cost-reduction initiatives.
Assist in capital purchases by preparing comprehensive Statements of Work.
Review, interpret, and approve engineering drawings and specifications.
Design and implement bonding and inspection tooling.
Develop and implement repair plans to restore product compliance.
Support introduction of new products into manufacturing.
Lead process improvement to reduce labor hours and cycles; boost productivity.
Collaborate with suppliers to troubleshoot quality and delivery issues.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related engineering discipline
Minimum of 10 years of experience in manufacturing or a related engineering field in the design, construction, and manufacturing of composite structures.
Proficiency in CATIA 3D modeling software
Access to export-controlled technology which requires U.S. Person status or government authorization. A ‘U.S. Person’ includes U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, individuals lawfully admitted for permanent residence (green card holders), and individuals granted asylum or refugee status in the United States.
