Job summary

Firehawk Aerospace in Addison, TX is seeking a Design Engineer focused on composite structures to design, analyze, and optimize rocket motor components and propulsion system structures. You will lead design efforts, create CAD models, and coordinate with analysis, testing, and manufacturing teams to ensure robust, producible solutions.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in aerospace composites, hands-on fabrication awareness, and a proven ability to deliver in a fast-paced R&D

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in aerospace, mechanical, or materials engineering.
• 3+ years in mechanical design with composite structures.
• Experience with CAD tools (CREO preferred).
• U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Lead/mentor engineers in designing structures for rocket motors and airframe components using composite materials.
• Create/modify CAD models and drawings for parts, assemblies, and tooling.
• Develop layup schedules, ply stacking sequences, and fiber orientation strategies.
• Collaborate with analysis, manufacturing, and testing teams to ensure producibility.
• Support manufacturing with composite processes and conventional fabrication methods.
• Analyze test data to validate designs and improve performance.
• Generate technical reports and design justification packages.
• Ensure compliance with MIL-HDBK-17, NCAMP, CMH-17 and safety requirements.
