POSITION SUMMARY
Test and validate electrical equipment and systems to ensure proper and optimal functioning. Use expertise and knowledge to execute testing and commissioning of electrical systems.
What you’ll do:
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Provide field representation and observation as required by the project testing/CX plan during installation, testing, and commissioning phases of projects.
- Assist in the development, documentation, and execution of each project’s specific commissioning plan.
- Obtain, thoroughly review, and execute manufacturer’s documentation for test plans and procedures.
- Perform and document visual inspection and advanced testing of electrical systems in accordance with IEEE, NEMA, and NETA testing requirements. Complete documentation of testing results in electronic format.
- Witness advanced electrical testing performed by manufacturers and subcontractors for compliance with IEEE, NEMA, and NETA testing requirements.
- Attend and document results of factory witness testing, as needed.
- Collect and evaluate electrical system data from existing facilities to assist in project development and planning.
- Prepare daily task hazard assessments, progress reports, and project commissioning documentation.
- Diagnose, analyze, troubleshoot, and solve system problems. Provide notes, photographs, sketches, and data to engineering/project management, if necessary, for system diagnostics and troubleshooting.
- Test, repair, replace, and/or program equipment and systems.
- Transport, setup, and operate advanced electrical test equipment including computer-controlled and automated equipment.
- Participate in inspections and reviews necessary at the close of the project.
- Complete all necessary documentation for the commissioning process.
- Perform all work within the confines of Brandt’s safety program; adhere to all relevant OSHA rules and regulations and NFPA 70E; comply with all site-specific safety requirements; and, don proper and required PPE.
- Perform additional assignments as requested/needed.
What you’ll need to be successful:
- High school degree or equivalent; successful completion of a trade/technical training program.
- Knowledge of the operations and designs of electrical and automation systems.
- Experience with low, medium, and high voltage systems and substations.
- Experience with terminations of medium voltage cable installation and termination.
- 4+ years’ experience in diagnosing and solving operational and/or construction-related problems pertaining to electrical, automation, and protection systems.
- A basic knowledge of NETA acceptance testing requirements.
- NICET Electrical Power Testing level two certification or ability to obtain within 1 year from date of hire.
- OSHA-30 and NFPA 70E certification (if not currently certified, must be obtained within six (6) months from date of hire).
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment successfully.
- Ability to prioritize and work on multiple projects concurrently.
- Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and follow-through from inception to closure.
- Excellent computer skills and ability/desire to learn new software programs.
- Field supervisory experience is a plus.
- Employment is contingent upon satisfying all jobsite-specific access requirements, with no outstanding restrictions from any jobsite or from working with any of Brandt’s partners, contractors, owners, or customers.
