Rocket Lab in Long Beach, CA, seeks a Senior/Senior-Principal Combustion Devices Engineer to own combustion device design, analysis, and qualification for the Archimedes engine. You will lead cross-functional teams, define tests, and deliver high-cadence test and flight programs, including collaboration with turbomachinery and engine systems groups.

You will advance design methods, mentor engineers, and contribute to the Neutron program with producible, reliable parts and comprehensive Q/A.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent
• 8+ years of combustion device design experience
• In-depth knowledge of combustion and fluid dynamics, heat transfer and structural mechanics
• Fundamental understanding of design principals and manufacturing methods

Responsabilités

• Design, analyze, and perform trades studies to achieve programmatic targets.
• Define requirements, test and flight qualification plans.
• Work with interface owners to create high-end, iteratively designable parts.
• Collaborate with manufacturing and build engineers for manufacturable designs.
• Work with test and launch teams to interpret data and enable a high cadence of tests and flights.
