Job summary

Rocket Lab in Long Beach, CA, is seeking a Senior Combustion Devices Engineer II or Principal Combustion Devices Engineer to lead the development of combustion devices for the Archimedes engine. You will own design, analysis, testing, and flight qualification from concept through re-flights, enabling the Neutron program and scalable space missions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent.
  • 8+ years of combustion device design experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of combustion, fluid dynamics, heat transfer and structural mechanics.

Responsibilities

  • Design, analyze, and perform trades studies to meet targets.
  • Define requirements, test and flight qualification plans.
  • Collaborate with interface owners to deliver high-end, iterated parts.
  • Work with manufacturing to ensure cheap, manufacturable designs.
  • Support test and launch teams to interpret data for high cadence flights.
