  • Provide classroom support, professional development, and strategies for College Life Coaches, including AVID training.
  • Oversee the implementation and evaluation of action plans for students on academic probation or suspension.

Job description

The Lead College Life Coach provides leadership and guidance to College Life Coaches within the School of Business & Industry and serves as the primary point of contact for student success initiatives within the school. Working closely with instructional leaders, the Lead College Life Coach coordinates the development, implementation, and evaluation of effective advising, retention, and student success practices. This position collaborates with faculty, staff, administration, and students to identify student needs, strengthen support services, and implement strategies that promote persistence, retention, and timely completion. The Lead College Life Coach also provides direction, mentorship, and ongoing support to the College Life Coach team, ensuring consistent practices, effective communication, and alignment with institutional and school-level student success goals.

Specific Position Duties
  • Work with the School Dean, College Life Coaches, administration, faculty, and students at Odessa College to lead the Pathways advising initiative by leveraging Student Planner and other advising solutions.
  • Facilitate student persistence through intentional and timely advising practices.
  • Collaborate with the school’s divisions and departments across campus to improve Pathways advising and the overall student experience.
  • Provide classroom support, professional development, and strategies for College Life Coaches, including AVID training.
  • Oversee the implementation and evaluation of action plans for students on academic probation or suspension.
  • Participate in college, school, and departmental committees and contribute to initiatives that support student success and institutional goals.
  • Prepare reports and provide data as needed for the School Dean and Odessa College administration.
  • Participate in college events, activities, and initiatives that support student engagement, recruitment, retention, and the overall student experience.
  • Assist with the selection and hiring of qualified College Life Coaches.
  • Supervise, train, and evaluate College Life Coaches within the assigned school.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to instruct and motivate students at the college level.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the academic, personal, and socioeconomic challenges facing community college students.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop positive mentoring and supportive relationships with a diverse student population.
  • Proficiency in using computer and web-based applications, including Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software programs.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution.
