Job summary

Town of Kernersville is seeking a skilled inspections supervisor to plan, perform, supervise, and manage inspections and enforcement activities ensuring compliance with building codes, zoning ordinances, and Town Codes.

The role involves directing staff issuing permits, inspecting electrical, building, mechanical, and plumbing trades, interpreting regulations, and enforcing them with tact and firmness. Physical work in construction environments is required.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school and some experience in the building construction industry and enforcement of code standards.
• Level III state inspection certification in two or more trades of Building, Electrical, Plumbing, or Mechanical.
• Possession of a valid North Carolina driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Inspect buildings in the process of construction, alteration, or repair for compliance with State Code requirements in all trade areas.
• Effectively supervise staff.
• Monitor and evaluate efficiency and effectiveness of division operations, procedures and use of resources.
• Review site plans, blueprints, and specifications and receive applications for permits.
• Assign and monitor daily inspection load to ensure balanced assignment of duties.
