Job summary

Placon Corporation seeks a Lead CNC Machinist to lead the shop floor, build and repair high-quality tooling, and mentor Tool Makers. You will read blueprints, solve on-the-fly problems, and supervise a hands-on team on a rotating 12-hour schedule.

The role emphasizes leadership, tool development, and process improvements in a modern manufacturing environment with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

Diploma in Machine Tool or related field is required or journeyman tool & die maker with experience.
Strong blueprint reading and shop math skills are essential.
Experience with CNC mills, lathes, grinders, drill presses and common hand tools.
Ability to lead and train tooling staff on the shop floor.

Responsibilities

Build, repair, and modify tools and mechanical components using CNC mills, lathes, grinders, and other shop equipment.
Troubleshoot tooling and production issues to keep operations running smoothly.
Inspect tools to ensure quality and reduce development costs.
Support and train Tool Makers and Assistant Tool Makers.
Collaborate with the team to improve processes and workflow.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
Assist with equipment selection, scheduling, and ordering supplies.
