Job summary

Laitram Machine Shop is seeking an experienced Machinist 4 to join the Lathe Team in Harahan, LA. You will set up and program CNC milling and lathe operations, perform precision inspections, and contribute to continuous improvement in a fast-paced shop environment.

Ideal candidates have 5–7 years of CNC experience, strong blueprints/GD&T skills, CAM software proficiency, and the ability to mentor others while maintaining high quality and on-time delivery.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• 5-7 years combined experience setting up or programming CNC equipment.
• Proficient using inspection tooling to measure part features.
• Blueprint reading skills required.
• Knowledge of G and M codes.
• Solid math skills including trig and geometry.
• Able to work independently or in a team.
• Flexible and responsive to changing demands.
• Excellent time management and communication skills.
• Strong computer skills and CAM software experience.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds.
• Experience with CAM software essential.
• Proficiency in multiple CNC disciplines (Horizontal/Vertical Mill, Lathe, Multi-axis).
• Proficient with GD&T.
• Team Leadership Experience.

Responsibilities

• Load stock into work holding devices and monitor the machining process.
• Perform visual and physical inspection of parts per Quality Management System.
• Record accurate transactions (clock in/out, quantities, close out operations, paperwork).
• Operate equipment after setup, including high-volume production orders.
• Maintain clean, organized work area and tools.
• Set up accurately across CNC Milling and Lathe machines.
• Adjust program speeds/feeds, work holding, and tooling to meet print specs.
• Provide training and mentorship to develop other machinists.
• Provide accurate CNC programs with setup/tooling information for others.
