Job summary

INDUSTRIAL DOOR CO INC. is seeking a Lead CNC Machinist/Programmer to oversee the production of garage door springs. You will create CNC programs, design tooling, and lead day-to-day machine shop operations to meet drawings and specifications.

You will set up and operate CNC mills, lathes, and live-tooling machines, select tooling, manage inventory, and drive continuous improvement while ensuring quality, cost, and on-time delivery. Equal Opportunity Employer.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 5+ years of CNC machinist experience with independent setup and programming.
• Live tooling experience on Y and C axis lathes/mills.
• Experience designing parts in 3D CAD and reading engineering drawings.
• Knowledge of tooling selection, fixturing, and cutting data for various metals.

Responsibilities

• Create CNC programs for CNC mills, lathes, and mill-turn machines using G-code and CAM software.
• Design parts, fixtures, and tooling using CAD software.
• Perform setups and operate CNC mills, lathes, and live-tooling machines to parts per drawings.
• Select tooling, track usage, and manage tooling orders.
• Manage inventory of materials, tooling, and shop supplies; receive, ship and restock as needed.
• Schedule orders and plan production workload according to priorities and due dates.
• Lead day-to-day machine shop operations and coordinate with internal customers on status and lead times.
• Create and maintain SOPs and train team members.
• Inspect parts with measuring equipment to ensure quality.
• Perform preventive maintenance and troubleshoot issues.
• Use ERP system to track orders, inventory, and production data.
• Drive continuous improvement to reduce cycle times and improve cost/quality delivery.

How You Contribute to The Team

The Lead CNC Machinist/Programmer is responsible for various tasks in the manufacturing of garage door springs according to customer and product specifications.

• Create basic and complex programs for CNC machines using G-code and CAM software.
• Design parts, fixtures, and tooling using CAD software.
• Perform complete setups and operate CNC mills, CNC lathes, CNC mill-turn machines, and manual mills and lathes to produce parts per drawings and specifications.
• Select tooling for each job, track tooling usage, and manage tooling orders.
• Manage inventory of raw material, finished goods, tooling, and shop supplies, including receiving, shipping, and restocking.
• Schedule orders and plan production workload according to business priorities and due dates.
• Lead day-to-day machine shop operations and serve as the main contact for internal customers on order status, lead times, and issues.
• Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and train team members as needed.
• Inspect parts using measuring equipment to ensure quality standards and specifications are met.
• Perform preventive maintenance on machines and troubleshoot and repair issues as needed.
• Use the ERP system to track orders, inventory, and production data.
• Drive continuous improvement to reduce cycle times and meet cost, quality, and delivery objectives.

What You Need to Succeed

• High school diploma or GED.
• 5 years of CNC machinist experience, including independent setup and programming.
• Hands-on experience with manual mills and lathes, CNC mills, CNC lathes, and CNC mill-turn machines, including live tooling Y and C axis lathes.
• Experience designing parts in 3D CAD software and creating and interpreting engineering drawings.
• Knowledge of tooling selection, fixturing, and cutting data for stainless steel, carbon steel, tool steel, aluminum, and brass.

Team members are paid weekly. The target hourly pay range is $34.00 - $41.00 depending on qualifications, experience, education, and other factors. A shift premium may be available depending upon shift and location.
