Job summary

Charles Schwab is seeking a Technical Lead for performance platforms within the Portfolio Performance Engineering team. The role combines hands-on coding with architectural leadership to migrate platforms to the cloud and deliver low-latency, scalable solutions used by millions of Schwab clients daily.

You will mentor teams, drive AI-enabled development practices across the SDLC, and work with stakeholders to define standards and reusable components, while exploring emerging technologies to

Qualifications

• 8+ years of development experience in distributed and cloud platforms.
• 5+ years of experience as an architect in building complex, highly scalable, low-latency applications.
• Experience with C# and/or Java in a Windows/Linux data center environment.
• Experience owning and operating multiple instances of a mission critical service.
• Experience with Agile development methodology and TDD.
• Experience with cloud services including IaaS, Pivotal Cloud Foundry, and public cloud providers.
• Experience using metrics to drive operational excellence.
• Experience growing high performing engineering teams.
• Broad knowledge of software engineering: languages, frameworks, techniques, trends.
• Experience as a technical leader including coaching and mentoring.

Responsibilities

• Solution Architecture & Problem Solving: design scalable, maintainable solutions by collaborating with stakeholders.
• Technical Delivery & Execution: lead end-to-end delivery of integrations, SSO, security, and customizations.
• Technical Leadership & Standards: provide guidance, enforce coding standards, ensure high-quality implementations.
• Innovation & Knowledge Enablement: drive knowledge sharing and evaluate emerging technologies.
• AI-Driven Engineering Leadership: lead adoption and scaling of AI-assisted development; coach engineers on AI usage and prompt engineering.
