Job summary

SteelSeries in Chicago seeks a Lead Software Engineer to guide a cloud-first, full-stack team building scalable web platforms and APIs that power gaming experiences. You will collaborate with hardware and software product teams, mentor engineers, and push for high-quality, well-tested code.

You will work with React frontends, AWS containers, and open APIs across a portfolio, delivering features on a rapidly evolving roadmap and shaping the next generation of SteelSeries web services.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in full-stack software engineering.
• Experience building scalable cloud solutions including container orchestration, database design, and network infrastructure, and distributed systems design.
• Experience designing and building web back ends and web user interfaces.
• Demonstrated ability to build and operate reliable, high-availability cloud platforms with hands-on observability and resilience engineering.
• Proven experience leading a platform engineering team to deliver well documented and well tested cloud solutions.
• Proficiency leveraging AI-assisted development tools to accelerate delivery and improve code quality.
• Desire to mentor and elevate fellow engineers and continuously learn.

Responsibilities

• Come up to speed with our tech stack written in React and deployed in AWS using containers.
• Ship a new feature in our cloud platform within 1 month.
• Evaluate architecture and plan refactors within 3 months, collaborating with product management and engineering.
• Define hardware and web APIs to ensure seamless interaction with products and cloud services.
• Refactor code for clean design with adequate test coverage and explore new languages/frameworks as needed.
