Job summary

Amazon OpenSearch Service is hiring engineers to design, develop, and operate a cloud-scale search and analytics platform. You will work on scalable, secure, real-time systems in a fast-paced environment, mentoring teammates and influencing architecture decisions.

Responsibilities include building robust code in Java and Python, contributing to OpenSearch, and solving complex distributed systems challenges for AWS customers.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 5+ years of programming with at least one language (Java, Python, or equivalent).
• 5+ years of leading design or architecture of new and existing systems.
• Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and support a world-class search platform serving customers of all sizes.
• Produce robust, efficient, and maintainable code in Java and Python.
• Work on OpenSearch open-source software with opportunities to contribute upstream.
• Tackle distributed systems, AI, data storage, query optimization, and security challenges.
• Lead architecture and design decisions, and mentor other engineers on the team.
• Continuously improve by challenging existing approaches and exploring improvements.
