Job summary

JPMorgan Chase & Co. is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to shape ATM channel software and operate at scale. You will design, build, and run Java-based services powering customer-facing ATM experiences with a strong emphasis on reliability, security, and AI-assisted development.

You will lead by example through hands-on engineering, strengthen best practices across the team, and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure risk-aware, compliant solutions that meet business goals.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience including backend development and production operations.
• Advanced Java expertise with Spring Boot and microservices experience.
• Experience designing, securing, and operating APIs with versioning and performance considerations.
• Strong database skills (relational and NoSQL) with schema design and optimization.
• Experience delivering cloud-native systems with containers, orchestration, CI/CD, and observability.
• Knowledge of secure software development practices and production readiness.
• Excellent communication to explain technical concepts to both engineers and non-engineers.
• Proven problem-solving, structured thinking, and decision-making abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and drive delivery with follow-through.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and implementation of enterprise-grade services supporting the ATM Channel Product.
• Develop and maintain Java-based services focusing on performance, reliability, and maintainability.
• Design, build, and govern REST and/or event-driven APIs with lifecycle management.
• Build data solutions using relational and NoSQL databases with sound design and performance tuning.
• Implement cloud-native patterns including microservices, containers, orchestration, observability, and automation.
• Drive engineering best practices across development, testing, deployment, and production operations.
• Apply AI-assisted workflows to accelerate delivery while ensuring safety and security.
• Provide hands-on technical guidance, troubleshooting, and leadership across the team.
• Conduct thorough code reviews for secure coding, test coverage, and clean architecture.
• Partner with stakeholders to ensure disciplined delivery aligned with change management and auditability.
