Position Overview: Lead Clinician – Partial Program Provider (LICSW, LMHC, LMFT)

Are you an experienced mental health professional ready to lead a dedicated clinical team and drive exceptional patient care? We are seeking a Lead Clinician with a strong background in mental health and addiction treatment to oversee day-to-day clinical operations and mentor a talented team. This is an excellent opportunity for an LICSW, LMHC, or LMFT with a passion for leadership, innovation, and program excellence.

Position Summary:

The Lead Clinician is responsible for spearheading program activities, ensuring the effective completion of clinical assignments, and overseeing all patient care to the highest standards. You’ll support patients directly while guiding a multidisciplinary clinical team, collaborating closely with program leadership, and ensuring the integration of best practices in mental health and addiction treatment.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Lead and Mentor: Provide guidance and supervision to clinical staff on counseling and therapeutic practices, fostering a collaborative and supportive team environment.
  • Monitor and Enhance Clinical Services: Conduct thorough chart reviews, monitor clinical appropriateness, and perform clinical reviews to track and improve patient progress.
  • Collaborate with Leadership: Work with the Program Director to address complex treatment situations and strategize solutions.
  • Staff Development and Evaluation: Conduct employee performance evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and contribute to staffing and hiring decisions.
  • Direct Patient Care: Offer individual and group counseling, psychoeducation, and direct patient services, maintaining a reduced caseload proportional to staffing levels.
  • Utilization Review and Care Coordination: Conduct utilization reviews as needed, ensuring alignment with payer requirements, and train clinical staff in effective care coordination practices.
  • Cross-Department Collaboration: Coordinate with other departments for seamless patient transitions, maintaining continuity and quality of care.
  • Performance Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements for enhanced clinical efficiency and patient outcomes.
  • Documentation and Staff Training: Educate staff on proper documentation practices and stay informed on current behavioral health practices.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Uphold the Professional Staff Code of Ethics and ensure compliance with all regulatory standards.
  • Technology Proficiency: Develop working proficiency in relevant technologies (e.g., EMRs, telehealth platforms, Excel) and provide training for clinical staff.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Education: Master’s degree in social work, counseling, or a related field.
  • Licensure: Independent licensure (LICSW, LMHC, LMFT) strongly preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of two years in an addiction or mental health treatment program with knowledge of regulatory standards and clinical management.
  • Skills: Strong analytical and organizational skills, excellent verbal and written communication, and familiarity or direct experience with relevant technology such as EMRs and telehealth tools.
