Qualifications

• ASCP certification, or equivalent, preferred.
• Minimum five years of hospital laboratory work experience required.
• Bachelor’s Degree in chemical, physical, biological health science or Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited institution, or other CLIA-based educational requirement.
• Current and Valid State License if the laboratory is located in a state where required.

Responsibilities

• Functions as the department Section Supervisor or Lead, responsible for supervising the daily operation of the section(s).
• Provides consultative services to the medical staff as Technical Consultant.
• Oversees performance improvement programs and participates in hospital interdisciplinary initiatives.
• Responsible for the technical and fiscal management of the section(s).
• Oversees the section(s) quality management/assurance program.
• Ensures compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements.
• Assesses staff competency and completes performance evaluations timely.
• Ensures accuracy of patient results prior to reporting.
• Develops and updates section policy and procedure manuals.
• Reviews QC performance and documents corrective actions.
