Job summary

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center seeks a Clinical Laboratory Manager to supervise the Surgical Pathology Gross Room and Tissue Procurement Services within Anatomic Pathology. You will oversee daily lab operations, coordinate workflow between histology and autopsy services, and lead the technical staff.

Responsibilities include staffing, training, performance assessments, maintaining SOPs, QA/QC, budget oversight, safety compliance, and providing grossing support during staff

Responsibilities

• Manages daily laboratory operations including receipt of specimens and data entry into information systems.
• Oversees workflow coordination between histology, autopsy services, and tissue procurement.
• Manages staff including hiring, training, competency assessments, annual performance reviews, and disciplinary actions when needed.
• Maintains and enforces SOPs, quality control and quality assurance for clinical and research tissues.
• Reports quality activities to the Anatomic Pathology Technical Quality Improvement Committee; ensures regulatory compliance.
• Collaborates with faculty pathologists and other lab supervisors on compliance and process improvements.
• Coordinates training and educational opportunities for medical students and residents.
• Oversees GR finances and budgets; participates in short/long term strategic planning.
• Provides grossing support during periods of staff shortages; ensures safety compliance.
