About the Role

Our client, a large-scale industrial complex in Welkom , Free State , is seeking a dynamic and experienced Lead Cleaning and Waste Management Supervisor. This role is essential for ensuring the cleanliness, safety, and environmental compliance of the entire facility. You will be responsible for managing a team of cleaning staff, overseeing waste disposal operations, and implementing effective sanitation protocols. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in supervising cleaning operations, a strong understanding of waste management best practices, and a commitment to maintaining a pristine and safe working environment. This hands-on leadership position requires a proactive approach, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to motivate and guide a team effectively. Your work will directly contribute to the operational efficiency and health standards of the complex.

Key Responsibilities

Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the cleaning and waste management teams. Develop and implement detailed cleaning schedules and waste disposal plans. Ensure all cleaning tasks are performed to the highest standards, adhering to safety and hygiene protocols. Manage the collection, segregation, storage, and disposal of various types of waste in compliance with environmental regulations. Train new staff members on cleaning techniques, waste handling procedures, and safety guidelines. Conduct regular inspections of work areas to ensure cleanliness and identify potential hazards or compliance issues. Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies, chemicals, and waste management equipment, and place orders as needed. Operate and maintain cleaning machinery and waste disposal equipment safely and efficiently. Promote a strong safety culture within the team, ensuring adherence to all safety procedures. Liaise with external contractors and regulatory bodies as required.

Requirements

Proven experience in a supervisory role within cleaning services or waste management. Strong knowledge of cleaning chemicals, equipment, and techniques. Understanding of waste management principles, including segregation, recycling, and hazardous waste disposal. Familiarity with health, safety, and environmental regulations pertinent to cleaning and waste management. Excellent leadership, team management, and communication skills. Ability to create and manage work schedules and staff rotas. Physical fitness to perform inspections and occasional hands-on cleaning or waste handling tasks. Problem-solving skills and the ability to respond effectively to unforeseen issues. Proficiency in basic record-keeping and reporting. A valid driver's license may be advantageous for site mobility.
