Job summary

OpenAI is seeking a Clean Energy and New Technology Lead to own infrastructure energy strategy and deployment, driving scalable, low-carbon compute and data center growth. You will align with regulatory and policy teams to ensure sustainable expansion and long-term objectives.

This individual contributor lead role focuses on evaluating emerging energy technologies, developing practical deployment pathways, and coordinating with energy, regulatory, and site-readiness teams to meet project needs.

Qualifications

• 15+ years in energy technology, infrastructure sustainability, or related roles.
• Strong understanding of power systems, low-carbon energy, and large-scale deployment requirements.
• Experience evaluating emerging technologies and translating options into deployment plans.
• Ability to balance sustainability with reliability, cost, and regulatory constraints.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate emerging energy solutions and identify scalable deployment opportunities.
• Translate options into reliability, cost, schedule, carbon and regulatory implications for decisions.
• Partner with regulatory, procurement, engineering, deployment, finance, legal and site-readiness teams.
• Track energy market, policy, and technology developments and build repeatable evaluation playbooks.
