Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Sr Civil Engineer - Steel Structures to design and develop critical structural ground systems for the Cape Canaveral launch site in Florida. You will lead major structural systems, oversee FEA work, and coordinate with external partners to deliver GSE for Blue Origin’s rockets, including New Glenn platforms.

The role requires a PE license, 10+ years of experience in large steel structures, and strong knowledge of IBC/ASCE/AISC/AWS standards. U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• 10+ years of design/analysis/construction experience with large steel structural systems.
• Experience with structural and mechanical analysis using FEA tools.
• Experience designing and analyzing bolted and welded connections.
• Knowledge of civil engineering codes and standards (IBC, ASCE, AISC, AWS).
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Citizenship or lawful residency in the U.S. (U.S. citizen/national, permanent resident or equivalent).

Responsibilities

• Serve as technical lead for major structural systems, mentor junior staff, drive design standards and best practices.
• Define and drive structural design solutions for large structural/mechanical systems.
• Lead, perform, and review FEA and hand-calcs for complex steel structures.
• Manage external design and fabrication partners through complete project lifecycle, and oversee equipment fabrication, assembly, installation, and testing & activation.
