Job summary

Fluidstack seeks a lead civil engineer to own the civil workstream for multi-site data center developments. You will manage due diligence, design standards, and permitting with cross-functional teams across jurisdictions.

Responsibilities include coordinating geotechnical investigations, shaping grading strategies, and delivering mass grading and utilities packages. A PE license and hyperscale experience are a plus for this role in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Experience owning civil engineering on large-scale site development (data centers, industrial, energy).
• Managed external civil consultants and IFC deliverables.
• Proficient in grading, earthwork, stormwater, site utilities, and FEMA floodplain permitting.
• Identified civil fatal flaws and quantified cost risk during site selection.
• Geotechnical coordination and interpretation of borehole data into design actions.
• Bonus: PE license and hyperscale/energy infrastructure experience; AutoCAD Civil 3D and GIS familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Own the civil workstream across multi-site development from site screening through permitting to construction completion.
• Lead civil due diligence for greenfield and conversion sites: topography, drainage, utilities, soils, floodplain, and environmental constraints.
• Develop and maintain the civil basis of design, master specs, and standard drawings; establish grading strategies and earthwork balance.
• Structure phased delivery with early work packages (mass grading, site utilities, enablement) to accelerate the critical path.
• Lead civil permitting strategy across jurisdictions: land disturbance, NPDES/SWPPP, floodplain (CLOMR/LOMR), environmental, and utility permits.
• Coordinate external civil consultants from schematic through IFC and align civil scope with structural, MEP, fiber, and architectural teams.
