Scherer Design Group, LLC, based in Lebanon, NJ, is seeking a Lead Civil Engineer to design and review telecom site builds and to lead a team of engineers and CAD designers. This full-time hybrid role requires collaboration across disciplines and oversight of site development from concept to construction.

The ideal candidate has telecom design experience, strong leadership, and the ability to produce precise construction drawings, with AutoCAD proficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering (or equivalent experience) and minimum 4 years’ civil/telecom design experience.
• If no degree, a minimum of 8 years telecom design experience is required.
• Experience with new site development; tower sites/rooftops in tri-state area a plus.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD for drawings and drafting.

Responsibilities

• Design telecom sites from conception to construction, including layout and antenna mount design.
• Develop and review construction drawings, specs, and detailing for cell sites.
• Perform site inspections and prepare condition reports.
• Lead and train junior engineers and CAD designers.
• Prepare sketches and perform drafting using AutoCAD.

Role Description

The ideal candidate is someone with telecom knowledge, intuitive thinking, and managerial talents that inspire others. This is a full-time hybrid role with a minimum of three days in the office. The Lead Civil Engineer will be responsible for the designing and review of new site builds while collaborating and leading other engineers and designers.

Responsibilities

• Design of telecom sites from conception to construction, including layout from scratch, antenna mount design & site plan approval
• Development and review of construction drawings, specifications, and detailing for new and existing cell sites
• Perform site inspections and condition assessments on existing sites and prepare reports
• Lead and train Jr Engineers and CAD designers
• Prepare sketches and perform drafting using AutoCAD

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with minimum 4 years’ experience, telecom experience preferred
• If no degree, must have a minimum of 8 years telecom design experience
• New site development experience required; tower sites/rooftops in tri-state area a plus
• Experience with developing drawings in AutoCAD
• Knowledge of building envelope structural components
• Knowledge of construction drawing standards
• Ability to perform inspections of sites and other structures, both visually and with instruments
• Ability to record data clearly and write passages for reports, letters, etc.
• Ability to drive and safely operate a motor vehicle
