We are seeking a highly motivated Lead Project Engineer to join our team! As a Lead Project Engineer, you can leverage your education and knowledge with hands-on professional experience working on residential, industrial, and commercial land development projects.
Job Responsibilities
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to Engineers & technical staff.
- Lead/manage complex engineering tasks and projects.
- Demonstrate mastery of fundamental project management skills and use of advanced techniques to increase productivity, efficiency, and accuracy.
- Review technical work with a long-term perspective to optimize effectiveness.
- Support corporate mission, goals, strategies, policies, and procedures.
- Promote effective communication and collaboration internally.
- Create CAD drawings and details for site, subdivision, and infrastructure plans.
- Contribute to the preparation of full sets of construction plans.
- Design site layout, utilities including water, sanitary, storm sewer systems, and roadway design.
- Prepare erosion and sediment control plans.
- Perform hydrologic computations for SWM/BMP facilities.
- Perform site distance analysis, grading, waterline analysis, landscape design, traffic control, and pavement design computations.
- Complete SWM plans and design BMP facilities.
- Prepare site work quantity take-offs, cost estimates, and bond estimates.
- Prepare planning and zoning exhibits and plans.
- Utilize industry-specific software such as ITE manual, lighting software, HY-8, etc.
- Perform quality control and plan reviews.
- Develop feasibility studies, site and layout plans, grading studies, etc.
- Coordinate with team members as necessary.
- Manage project deadlines and communicate progress.
- Assist with deliverables for local, state, and private submissions.
- Conduct site visits to inspect conditions and progress, and assist with field revisions and as-built documentation.
- Perform other assigned tasks as needed.
Qualifications
- B.S. in Civil Engineering or similar field from an accredited university (preferred but not required).
- EIT certification (preferred); willingness to pursue further certifications such as PE, DEQ SWM Inspector, Plan Reviewer, Responsible Land Disturber, etc.
- Experience with land development applications is preferred.
- Management or Project Management experience is strongly preferred.
- Experience with transportation projects like roadways and highways.
- Ability to contribute to all phases of engineering design projects using advanced principles.
- Ability to work independently and justify design decisions.
- Adaptability to learn and apply new skills effectively.
- Proactive approach to improving work products and ownership of work.
- Establish credibility through professional organizations and networking.
- Ability to manage client and contractor relationships.
- GIS experience (preferred).
- Motivated, dedicated, and eager to learn and grow.
- Familiarity with industry standards and requirements.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil3D, Hydraflow, Storm and Sanitary Analysis, WaterCAD, and MS Office (preferred).
- Excellent time management, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
- Experience in customer service.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Physical ability to lift/move 50+ pounds.
- Ability to sit for extended periods in an office setting.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Attention to safety, quality, and detail.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with company equipment and MS Office.
