Job summary

Anchoragechamber is seeking a Heavy Civil Construction Superintendent to oversee field operations on large infrastructure projects in remote Alaska sites. You will manage crews, coordinate with the Project Manager and engineers, and ensure safety, quality, and schedule adherence.

Ideal candidates have 7–10 years in heavy civil construction, strong plan-reading skills, OSHA 30 preferred, and willingness to travel to remote Alaska locations.

Qualifications

  • 7–10 years of progressive heavy civil construction experience.
  • Strong knowledge of civil construction methods, materials, and equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex construction plans, cost controls, scheduling, and production tracking.
  • Exceptional leadership and organizational skills managing multiple crews and subcontractors.
  • OSHA 30 certification strongly preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to pass a driving record report.
  • Willingness to travel and work at remote Alaska job sites.

Responsibilities

  • Project Leadership & Execution — serve as the primary on-site leader coordinating construction activities with the Project Manager and Engineers, directing earthwork, grading, utilities, concrete, paving, and maintaining schedules.
  • Team & Subcontractor Management — supervise field crews and subcontractors, conduct briefings, monitor performance against quality standards and timelines.
  • Safety & Compliance — enforce OSHA/MSHA regulations, conduct safety inspections, hazard assessments, and address incidents.
  • Quality Control & Documentation — review plans and shop drawings, monitor workmanship and materials, maintain daily logs of production, delays, and stakeholder interactions.
