Job summary

Shirley Contracting Company is seeking a Superintendent to oversee projects across the Greater Richmond area. The role focuses on leading field teams, coordinating schedules, and ensuring safety, quality and budget adherence.

Strong communication and regulatory knowledge are essential. The position requires 5+ years of relevant experience with a heavy civil contractor and a High School diploma or equivalent, with base salary described in the offer.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in a large-scale civil/construction setting.
• Deep knowledge of construction processes including scheduling, contract administration, equipment and manpower.
• Ability to lead field operations with decisive problem-solving.
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
• Understanding of construction equipment, maintenance, and safe practices.
• In-depth understanding of local, state and federal regulations.

Responsibilities

• Schedule, supervise and monitor construction to meet or exceed the project schedule and budget.
• Encourage and participate in staff training and development.
• Collaborate with clients, project managers and other construction management to determine budget and timeline.
• Develop a project schedule, sequence of work, and monitor daily productivity.
• Supervise field workforce to ensure safety, productivity and budget compliance.
• Coordinate materials and equipment delivery for long-lead and critical-path items.
• Maintain daily log of job-site operations; report to management as necessary.
• Ensure punch lists are completed in a timely manner.
