Job summary

Everforth Apex is seeking a Lead Cisco Firewall Engineer in Washington, DC (40% remote). The role is a 6-month contract to permanent hire with an hourly rate of $89–$98 on W-2. Starting permanent salary is $194,000 plus full benefits.

You will lead a firewall team, design and implement firewall solutions, and collaborate with IT, security, and network teams. The ideal candidate has 12+ years of experience, TS/SCI eligibility, and strong Cisco/Juniper experience with IDS expertise.

Qualifications

• Top Secret / SCI eligibility required.
• 12+ years of overall work experience.
• 3–5+ years of Cisco firewall experience (Firepower and/or ASA).
• Demonstrated knowledge in planning, directing, and managing a firewall team.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and manage firewall solutions using Cisco ASA/Firepower, Juniper SRX and Palo Alto.
• Monitor firewall performance and security logs to identify threats.
• Develop and enforce network security policies and procedures.
• Perform system audits to ensure compliance with standards and regulations.
• Collaborate with IT, security and network teams to integrate firewall solutions.
• Troubleshoot and resolve firewall issues and document in ticket systems.
• Maintain and update firewall configurations with approved change management.
