Job summary

Abile Group, Inc. in Springfield, VA is seeking a Lead Firewall Engineer for a contract position onsite to support an Intelligence Community customer.

You will lead firewall operations across F5, Juniper SRX, and Palo Alto platforms, ensuring compliance with STIG/SRG and documenting configurations. The ideal candidate holds TS/SCI with CI poly, a CS/security degree, 8+ years in network security, and 5+ years in large-scale networks.

Qualifications

• TS/SCI clearance with ability to obtain CI poly.
• BS or MS in Computer Science, Cyber Security, Network Security or related field.
• 8+ years of experience with network security technologies, tools and techniques.
• 5+ years' experience with large-scale enterprise/global networks in a high-paced environment.
• S6DoD 8140.01 and DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II compliant certification (current). Must be able to obtain CSSP Infrastructure Support certification within 120 days.
• Desired:F5 Networks certifications.

Responsibilities

• Serves as the focal point for firewall tasks, operations, and projects.
• Leads, directs, and manages daily operations, troubleshooting, and maintenance of the NSS Boundary work center.
• Designs, implements, and manages security solutions for project-based requirements using F5, Juniper SRX, and Palo Alto.
• Ensures STIG/SRG and baselines; leads compliance evaluations and audits.
• Monitors performance, logs, configurations, and drift to mitigate issues.
• Develops network diagrams, inventories, and licensing status; provides reports to leadership.
• Coordinates issues with stakeholders to ensure task completion.
• Evaluates and recommends changes to address performance and security needs.
• Mentors and coaches personnel.
