Job summary

Chimpanzee Sanctuary Northwest (CSNW) seeks a Chimp House Manager to lead a small team in the ongoing care of rescued chimpanzees and cattle at the Cle Elum sanctuary. You will supervise staff, set goals, and ensure high-quality care with attention to safety and animal welfare.

The role includes coordinating schedules, supporting volunteers, maintaining medical and behavioral records, and participating in outreach.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience as a supervisor.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
• Employment or volunteer history working with great apes in a sanctuary, zoo, or related setting.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily animal care for chimpanzees and cattle.
• Set team goals to improve quality of care.
• Hire, onboard, and supervise animal care staff.
• Train staff in operational, supervisory, and interpersonal skills.
• Coordinate staff schedules with Volunteer Manager.
• Maintain records and documentation of activities.
• Participate in emergency drills and safety protocols.
• Contribute to outreach and education programs.
