Job summary

The University of North Texas Center for Young Children is seeking a Child Development Lab Teacher to oversee educational programs for preschoolers, develop curriculum, prepare lesson plans, teach, and consult with parents.

This role emphasizes play-based, emergent, and inquiry-based learning, collaboration with COE staff, and supervision of student teachers within a Monday–Friday schedule in Denton.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field and one year of early childhood program teaching experience.
  • Ability to write lesson plans and organize a preschool classroom.
  • Ability to work with children, parents and other stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement caregiving and teaching practices aligned with CYCs philosophy.
  • Plan an assets-based classroom reflecting children's learning styles and development.
  • Conduct assessment of student learning and use results to design instructional activities.
  • Work with CYC staff and COE to develop play-based, emergent, and inquiry-based curriculum.
  • Plan and supervise assignments of teacher aides and volunteers.
  • Establish and maintain open communication with parents, director, supervisors and teachers.
  • Facilitate IRB approved research studies with faculty and graduate students.
